YET ANOTHER PAUL HARRIS FELLOW

At our last partners meeting of 2009 Immediate Past President Terry Servant was made a Paul Harris Fellow for his services to the club and Rotary in general.  Terry has always been around when needed (slightly late bu around nevertheless) and enthusiastically helps to promote the clubs' activities.  Terry is currently helping to mastermind a street collection of the Haitian Earthquake

CLUB GIVES TWO PAUL HARRIS FELLOWSHIPS

Rtn Martin Vaux PHFRtn Nick Drake

During the last meetings of the Rotary year  outgoing President Terry Servant awarded Past President Rotarian Martin Vaux and Past President Rotarian Nick Drake with Rotary's highest honour a Paul Harris Fellowship in recognition of the work they had done.  In Martin's case this was not only in Rotary but also in Round Table and as a member and sometime Chairman of the Caterham Carnival Committee to serve the community of Caterham.  In Nick's case it was for service not only in Rotary but earlier in Rotaract and Rotaserv.  For once in their lives Martin and Nick were completely speechless.  This is only the fifth and sixth  Paul Harris Fellowship that Caterham Harestone have awarded in the 22 years since the club started.  Martin's award  award was made at the first meeting in the club's new venue Surrey National Golf Club, Nick's award was made at the club's year end party in a members garden.

The club inducted our third lady member in March 2009.  During this Rotary year the club will be even more active in seeking new members - if you are interested in joining us please drop us an email at click on this link to arrange a visit to one of our Monday meetings.

At the end of the Rotary year the club decided to try a new venue.  As of 29th June 2009 our meetings take place at the Surrey National Golf Club in Chaldon  Meeting timings etc are as before.

During the last Rotary year the club contributed to a large number of charities.  Locally we worked with Caterham Rotary and Caterham Round Table on the Christmas Tree of Goodwill.  This resulted in contributions towards the refurbishment of Warlingham Guide Hut, help to the Dene Hospital and to Clifton Hill school.

Major fund raising events within the club led to contributions to Tandrige Crossroads, MacMillan Cancer Care, ShelterBox, Chase Childrens Hospice, the Lily Foundation and PSSD.  In addition we have also given smaller donation in the last week to a respresentative of Coulsdon MS Centre towards the purchase of balls for the game of Boccia which is a game that enpowers even the most physically disabled people.
