FUND RAISING

The Chairman responsible for Fund Raising is Ian Brown

During the last few years we have raised funds to support the Community & Vocational and International service efforts through the following events

An Old Time Music Hall
A Race Night
A Concert of Comic Songs featuring Gordon Peters
A Rock & Roll Evening
A Musical Extravaganza
A door to door Christmas Tree Collection for ten nights (annual event)
Indian Extravaganza
Running stalls at Fetes - Dene Hospital Fete, Warlingham Fayre and Caterham Carnival

plus many more smaller activities

Last year's first big fund raising event was an Old Time Musical Hall at Woldingham during October where a professional company entertained over 170 people to an evening of traditional old time entertainment with lots of audience participation.  Over £1000 was raised to go to MacMillan Nurses and Crossroads.

This was followed in February by our Race Night in aid of ShelterBox and in May by our Spring Dance in aid of Chase.

The end of the Rotary year was maked by the Warlingham Fayre and Dene Hospital Fete.  At both we attended with our fruit tombola plus at the Dene with our coconut shy.

The Harestone Ladies will again be  running a Jazz evening during November.  This follows on from the success of the same event last year when about £2000 was raised for Macmillan Cancer Care.

Also if you are in the Caterham Area during December keep your eyes peeled for the Rotary Christmas Tree of Goodwill as it makes its way around the streets of Caterham and the surrounding area during the early evenings as does every year.

We will also be helping  out Croydon Jubilee Rotary club by helping to marshal a sponsored walk in aid of Marie Curie.

In February 2010 it is hoped to hold a dance with live music from Trappers band at de Stafford School.

During the spring there will be a concert, plans for content and venue etc are still be formulated.
