The main International projects we will be the
Grafton project in Sierra Leone - which aims to bring hope to 600
children who currently have a bowl of rice a day which is funded by a Dutch
charity. This project
At the back end of 2009 the club donated nearly £1000 to
the purchase of two Shelter Boxes. Each
box provides shelter for 10 people along with all the necessary cooking
equipment and sleeping bags and water purification equipment. More
details about Shelter Box can be found below. The club has been
collecting for Shelterboxes for the disasters in Asia (China/Burma) and
raised enough for another 2 shelterboxes that ended up in Chengdu in China,
with another going to Somalia.

we have helped with International projects in the following areas
Kimilee School -
Kenya - helping with books and IT equipment
Shelter Boxes for the Pakistan Earthquake, Bangladesh
Cyclone, Burma Cyclone, China Earthquake.
Contributions to the Rotary Britain & Ireland fund for the Tsunami
Mercy Ships - a floating hospital that goes around West
Africa - raised from the first Bingo night in early 2006.
Lifeline Express (Magic Train - a
hospital train that operates in India - contribution
towards to equipment on a new train/
Sponsoring Rotarians who went to Sierra Leone to help
rebuild a hospital.
In addition to the above the club makes regular
contributions to the Rotary Foundation. The Foundation is the largest
contributor to the World Health Organisation project to eradicate polio
throughout the world. Rotarians throughout the world have been working on
this project for many years. In the affected countries they organise mass
immunisation days etc.....
